Im Kanu lässt es sich ganzjährig stromaufpaddeln, und die verschiedenen Gesichter des Mira bei unterschiedlichen Tidenständen erleben.
Das klappt nur, wenn man zur richtigen Zeit am richtigen Ort einsetzt - darum kümmern wir uns. Worauf Sie achten müssen, steht auf der Seite über`s Kanu fahren im Allgemeinen.
Auch andere Orte lassen sich mit dem Kanu erkunden, auf dem Stausee von Santa Clara kann man sich tageweise ein Kanu mieten und von Insel zu Insel fahren und seine eigenen Badestellen suchen.

Halber Tag
von Odemira flussaufwärts...
Die einfachste und kinderfreundlichste Etappe folgt dem Fluss ins Landesinnere hinein. Bei fortgeschrittener Flut setzen Sie in Odemira ein und paddeln flußaufwärts, denn die Meeresströmung bleibt etwa zwei Stunden noch stark genug, Sie zu tragen.
Der Mira ist hier noch relativ schmal, man paddelt windgeschützt und hat oft Schatten: er ist hier von hohen Bäumen gesäumt und gleicht gegenüber der ansonsten eher kargen alentejanischen Landschaft einer grünen Oase, wo neben alten Korkeichen, Öl- und Erdbeerbäumen auch Erlen, Pappeln und Weiden den Fluss säumen.
...und zurück
Nach einem Picknick im Pappelwald trägt die Ebbströmung die Boote wieder zurück nach Odemira. Das bedeutet etwa vier bis fünf entspannte Stunden auf dem Wasser, eine optimale Vorbereitung für spätere Etappen. Diese Strecke lässt sich auch problemlos nach einem Einkaufstag in Odemira unternehmen, um den Tag in Ruhe ausklingen zu lassen.
Die Ablegezeiten richten sich nach den Tiden, daher rechtzeitig Bescheid geben, um den besten Abfahrtstermin zu finden! Für größere Gruppen mit Kindern empfiehlt sich eine Tourenbegleitung.

Ganzer Tag
von Odemira nach Casa Branca
Etwa die doppelte Strecke legen Sie bei dieser Tagestour zurück, die nur für geübte Paddler empfohlen ist. Nur an wenigen Stellen kommt man überhaupt an Land. Bei niedrigen Tidenstand fährt man durch ausgedehnte Schlicklandschaften, Zeit für Krebse, Muscheln und Strandvögel. Das Wasser wird zunehmend salzhaltiger, wodurch sich auch Vegetation und Tierwelt verändern.
Casa Branca ist ein ehemaliger Verladehafen für Weizen, der heute verwaist ist und nur noch von einigen Fischern genutzt wird. Hier können Sie Ihr Auto direkt am Wasser parken.
...und zurück
Diese Tagestour läßt sich ohne Aufpreis auf zwei Tage verlängern, wenn Sie die Boote am zweiten Tag wieder nach Odemira zurückpaddeln und damit die Transportkosten für uns entfallen.

Kanu-Wochenende:
von Odemira bis zur Mündung
Ein Abenteuer- Wochenende für erprobte Wildcamper: fast 40 km lassen sich in zwei bis drei Etappen einteilen, in denen Sie von der Zivilisation kaum etwas mitbekommen werden.
Der Meereseinfluss wird im Unterlauf so stark, dass sich der Fluss bei Flut zu einem breiten Strom ausdehnt. Die Windungen des Mira werden ausgedehnter, der manchmal rauhe Wind weht einem einmal entgegen und treibt in der nächsten Kurve die Boote voran.
Casa Branca ist eine der Orte, an denen wild zelten möglich ist. Zu Fuß erreicht man von hier das Dörfchen Carrasqueira und einen nahe gelegenen Stausee.
Die Fahrt endet an der Mündung in Vila Nova de Milfontes, wo Sie erwartet werden.

Je nach Mondphase bietet sich diese Tour auch in entgegengesetzter Richtung an: Sie setzen an der Mündung ein und folgen dem Fluss bergauf, bis Sie das Städtchen Odemira erreichen. Rechtzeitig anfragen!

Half Day canoeing
From Odemira upstream…
The simplest and child-friendliest tour follows the river into the inland. With advanced flood you set for paddles in Odemira and paddle upstream, because the sea current remains for about two hours still strongly enough to carry you.
The Mira is here still relatively narrow and shady, you paddle wind-protected under hugh trees. The river resembles a green oasis in the otherwise rather rough alentejan landscape. Beside of the typical old cork oaks, oiltrees and strawberry trees, with the river the variety ranges to alders, poplars and pastures.
The variation of reeds bordering the river forms a hugh area of the ecological important reed bed, where in the late evening you get a concert of the thousends of birds living here.
… and back
After picknicking in the poplar forest or swimming in the river, the ebbing current helps the boats back to Odemira. This is alltogether about four to five very relaxed hours on the water, an optimal preparation for further routes. This is also a nice tour to end a busy day in Odemira with piece and quietness.
The departure times depend on the tides, so demand in time to find the best day! For larger groups with children a tour guide is recommended.

About thed double distance is this day route, which
is recommended for experienced paddler only. There are only a few places where you can get ashore.
The water becomes increasingly more salty, whereby also vegetation and animal live change. With low tides you paddle through expanded mud landscapes, time for cancers, shells and sea birds.
Casa Branca is a former port of shipment for wheat, which is abandoned today and the place is only used by some fisherman.
Here you can park your car directly beside the river.

This daily route you may extend without surcharge to a second day, if you paddle back the boats to Odemira the next day and thus the transport costs are dropped for us.

from Odemira to the delta
An adventure weekend for experienced wild campers: nearly 40 km can be divided in two to three stages, in which you merely will meet civilization. The sea influence becomes so strong that the river expands on high tides to a broad river. The curves of the Mira become more and more expanded, with sometimes rough winds. Furtunately, the current of the tides aslo get stronger at take the boats easily with it.
The trip ends at the delta in Vila Nova de Milfontes, where you are expected and have your car parked.

Depending upon moon phases, this route is realizable also in the opposite direction: You start at the delta and follow the river upstream, until you reach the small town Odemira. Inquire in time!

No Rio Mira se rema facilmente rio acima, partindo do certo sítio na hora certa - disto nos ocupamos nós. O que tem que considerar se lê no site sobre canoagem em geral.
Meio dia:
Odemira rio acima...
A rota mais simples e mais apta para crianças segue o rio para o interior. Duas horas antes do maré encher o rio, parte de Odemira rio acima, e tem tempo suficiente para explorar este troço tão diferente.
O rio Mira aqui é ainda relativamente estreito, e se rema muitas vezes em sombra: está alinhado de árvores altas e parece um oásis verde na paisagem alentejana seca.
O caniçal e habitat de muitos espécies de pássaros, e principalmente na hora do pôr do sol ha sempre um concerto espectacular dos miles de habitantes.
... e de volta
Quando a maré começa a descer, leva os barcos de volta a Odemira. Este passeio relaxante dura cerca de quatro a cinco horas, e é uma preparação ideal para as etapas posteriores. Pode ser relizado facilmente após de um dia de compras em Odemira, para terminar o dia em sossego.
As horas da saída dependem da maré, por isso entram em contacto préviamente para encontrar o melhor dia!

Odemira para a Casa Branca
Cerca de duas vezes a distância abrange este dia de viagem, que só é recomendado para remadores experientes. Há pocos sítios onde se chega ao beiral.
Rema por vastas paisagens de lobo, habitat de caranguejos, conchas e aves marinas. A água se torna cada vez mais salina, que também altera a vegetação.
Casa Branca é um antigo porto de embarque para o trigo, que antiguamente foi transportado de aqui até Lisboa. Agora está abandonado e é utilizado apenas por alguns pescadores.

Este dia de canoa pode ser estendido para dois dias sem mais custos, se devolver as canoas no segundo dia de volta em Odemira, eliminando assim o custo do transporte para nós.

Odemira até a foz
Um fim de semana de aventura para campistas comprovadas: Mais que 40 km podem ser divididas em duas ou três etapas, nas quais os viajeiros notaram a civilização raramente.
A influência marinha no troço descendente é muito mais forte, na maré alta o rio se expande a grande largura. As voltas do Rio Mira são extensas, o vento sopra por vezes duramente. Felizmente, o corrente dos marés também é mais forte e leva as canoas facilmente consigo.
O passeio termina na foz em Vila Nova de Milfontes, onde são esperados e têm o seu carro, que temos aparcado antes.

Dependendo da fase da lua, ess passeio também pode ser realizado no sentido oposto: Abarca na boca do rio e siga subindo até chegar à vila de Odemira.
